Overview
MuttyCaps simplifies the search and checkout experience for quality headwear, allowing pet lovers to keep their furry friends warm and stylish. I developed the project's design and user flow in collaboration with a software engineer-in-training during March 2022.
The Problem
Seamless experiences with quality products can increase customer engagement and retention for male dog apparel shoppers. Providing easy ways to find products without searching the entire site is essential.
Goals
User: Offer users a user-friendly and intuitive platform to navigate and complete their tasks effortlessly.

Design Process
The project targeted an established audience of pet owners looking for animal apparel, specifically dog owners seeking headwear for outdoor use. We noticed that other dog apparel sites had excessive clicks and were challenging to navigate. This led to the creation of MuttyCaps, which offers a visually appealing design with concise information to aid in decision-making. After multiple iterations, we designed a seamless user experience, allowing users to find what they need effortlessly.
Limiting Options
Based on feedback, we determined that beanies and caps were the most popular types of headwear for dogs outdoors. By including these categories in the main navigation bar, users can conveniently find and access them without searching. However, the search option remains available for less common products.
Staying On Pages
Consolidating actions on the same pages prevented users from navigating too many pages, making it easier and less tiresome. This allowed users to progress towards their goals without the distraction of switching pages, providing them with important information and details without losing focus.
How Was The Problem Solved?
To prevent hindering the user experience, we minimized clicks required while ensuring the transaction continued smoothly. Providing the main products for users to search from and enabling them to edit details on the same page helped maintain users' progress towards checkout without distractions.
Results
The success of this project will be measured by the number of customers who can easily find and complete the checkout process. Additionally, the design's effectiveness will be determined by the number of returning customers.
Mobile Version
Creating a mobile-friendly experience can improve user engagement and retention, especially considering that mobile usage continues to rise. With a responsive design that adapts to various screen sizes, we can provide an optimized user experience, meeting the needs of shoppers on-the-go.
